Supporting Families in Navigating The Digital World
Empower kids with a healthy relationship with technology

Dr. Joanna Shapiro,
MD
As a mother and a physician I am constantly thinking about the effects of screens and how to mitigate/manage their use for my own family  as well as how to offer useful advice to my patients.  For a topic as overwhelming as this, Dr. Morris, with humor and empathy, distilled down the science and evidence of screens effects and offered concrete strategies I now use my self and impart to my patients. Her use of evidence, combined with a straight shooting but non judgemental approach made this enormous topic feel more manageable and approachable. This is a must see talk for all physicians who see kids and parents in this digital age.

Dr. Leanne Morris presented a very relevant and timely talk on the effects of screen time on kids. As a mother of kids spanning a wide range of ages, I have seen the detrimental effects on many teens from being on screens from an early age. Dr. Morris gives practical and achievable suggestions on how to limit screen time for kids (and parents). She presents evidence-based findings, in a way that is easy to understand and her empathy and sense of humour make the talk very accessible. This talk opens the door for bigger conversations around family screen time, and how we can make the best choices for our children's digital wellbeing.
